Who We Are

Heritage Homeschool Co-op in Wadsworth, Ohio is a homeschool educational group that serves Medina county and surrounding areas. Over the years, many families have been blessed by the opportunity to meet in one place twice a month to learn, socialize and support one another. Our goal is to work together with other homeschooling parents so that we can provide classes and friendships to enrich your family’s homeschooling experience.

Heritage Homeschool Co-op is an independently run Christian education group, but is open to all for membership. We love to have new families join us and all types of homeschoolers, unschoolers or e-schoolers are welcome. We meet every Monday  from September to April, usually taking off the month of December. A variety of classes are available from Pre-School through to High School, with a nursery available for younger siblings. Our class times begin at 9:30 and we are done at 2:30. Families are welcome to join the co-op for one or all class periods, but parents must be volunteering in some capacity while their children are attending classes unless they choose a drop off fee. It is the combined effort of each family that helps to make our co-op a success.

As we plan the year, we prioritize our experience according to the following values:

Co-operative—Co-op has always been about a shared learning environment for our kids. Over the years, this has meant shared teaching, cleaning the building, sharing financially in the costs, and on occasion, helping families out when they could do none of these.
Economical – For many families, keeping the costs economical is important or they will not be able to participate.
Encouraging—Homeschooling can be a challenging journey. We want to plan time in the day for moms to be encouraged and refreshed.
--Our goal is that all moms in co-op will have one “period” off that they can socialize and relax.
--We would like to include some Mom’s Nights, so we can get to know each other a bit better.
Quality – Whether we contribute our time, money or energy to co-op, we all want to be assured that what we are gaining from this experience is quality classes for our children. Understandably, we each define this word a bit differently. In our group, we interpret that to mean that what co-op offers can lighten the load of what you are trying to do at home and take some of the burden off of parents. As teachers, we respect that you are making time in the day and will do our best to make classes be engaging , educational and fun.
Social – We want to provide an opportunity for our children to socialize with their peers and learn together in a classroom environment.
Supportive – We want to be supportive of each family as they seek to homeschool their children and provide them access to co-op classes in a way that meets their needs and allows them to contribute in a way that fits their ability.
While we expect that the majority of parents will contribute by teaching and helping during the day, we do offer other options for the parents that just needs a break while co-op classes take place. We already had a “drop off” option for Jr. High and High school classes, but we are expanding this concept for younger ages. If your child is under 12, the parent will need to stay in the building but if the “drop off” option is used, that parent will not need to participate in teaching/helping/cleaning.  A fee applies to the drop off option.
In addition, we may utilize paid teacher on occasion to offer classes in subjects that are harder to obtain volunteer teachers or that the parents cannot or do not want to teach. These subjects may include Science, Music or various specialty classes.  In these situations, additional class fees will apply.
